Stout! finally.
I haven't drank stout for ages. Love the stuff but rather than just drink the same stuff all the time I think I'll try running the gauntlet of disappointment and try one I've never had before because as they say... who ever they are... 'Variety is the spice of life' unless we're talking about wasp stings, shark bites, poison and STI's. Then variety is probably the spice of uncomfortableness and, to a greater or lesser extent, misery!
WHAT!!
Oh, yes stout.
Cromwell stout is I assume, because I can't be bothered to look at the wordy bit on the bottles back, named for Oliver Cromwell (wiki link) who did stuff and was English... I think.

I'm not happy with the bottle art where Cromwell is winking ... or maybe has been stung in the eye by a wasp.                                   Eye stinging wasps are of cause the spice of life.
It freaks my out a little.

ON OPENING you or more I am met with a smell of carbonated beverage and a smell akin to gravy... not actual gravy mind you but a rich full smell with yeast and moltiness frolicking about in wild abandon through fields of barley and... sorry, getting a bit carried away there.

That really does taste amazing! It's strong and chocolaty with a burnt toffee taste in there too. Spicy full of flavour with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Like being hit in the mouth with a boxing glove covered in chocolate, marmite, darkness and the contense of a well stocked spice rack!

That's a winner in my eyes.

tasty rating
Good as a drink 8 /10
Good as a substitute for gravy 10/10
Can't put down factor 07/10
Good at getting you drunk 5/10
Bottle art 5/10
Average = 70 out of 100% because I can't handle numbers and don't understand percentages
