Old Rosie Westons cloudy cider 7.3% 500ml
I should start off by saying that this cider does not let you
down in it’s looks. You want cloudy cider, you’ve got it.
The look of the bottle
instantly makes you think of the West Country, of barmy English evenings and old
looking farming machinery.
I’m not sure if the drink is named for the farming equipment 'old Rosie'
or if the farm roller has just steamed over some poor unsuspecting apple picker
with this for mentioned name. Is this drink named to honer this potentially squished person?
I feel both are possible in this lovely
illustration…
I just read the back. It’s the name of the steam roller. No apple based deaths here. I can drink without my conscience worrying me or the potential of being bothered by West Country ghosts.
When first tasting this cider you are instantly assailed by
a flavour which is both smoky and sweet. There is no chance of missing ether
the unmistakable taste of apple (unlike some ciders such as Brothers, kopparberg
etc where apple is more suggested in it's lineage) or the infusion left by the maturing in oak vats. It also has a sharp, almost bitter
taste in there which makes me think of the bright green apples of my childhood. This drink is a little dry and is lightly sparkling just as it says on the back label!
Plus at 7.3% alcohol vol there is the promise of an epic
hangover if you over indulge… not that even the vaguest hint of the possibility
would ever even think of crossing our minds (That sounds like a Hitch-Hikers
guide quote)
Good as a drink 9/10 Good as a cider 10/10
Can't put down factor 09/10
Good at getting you drunk 9/10
Bottle art 8/10
Rated = 90ish out of 100% because I can't count and I don't understand percentages.
I was never good at math... or most other school things to be honest :-D
